Coyran Chueng started her journey into natural beauty at the age of 23. She worked in a hospital for nine years, and after years of stressful working hours, she gave up her stable job and high salary to launch her own beauty brand: OSCO. Read on to find out more about Coyran and her venture:
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and why you started OSCO?
I am Coyran Cheung, the founder of OSCO, a registered nurse, and an organic skincare formulator who graduated from Formula Botanica. I am very passionate about natural and green beauty as well as formulating effective skincare products to help people solve their problems.
I had been working in a hospital for 9 years and I just quit to launch my brand. Working in a hospital was quite difficult. I worked on shifts that were stressful and did not have a work-life balance. Ultimately, I knew it was not the life I desired. Finally, I chose to give up my high salary and a stable job to bring me back my life and chase what I really desire – help people in another way and solve their skin problems – do what I love, and create my own skincare brand with a passion for natural and green beauty!
How has overcoming your skin issues enabled you to change the way you approach your beauty regime/lifestyle?
My whole face broke out due to hormonal problems and the use of synthetic skin care products. For years. I was depressed with low self-esteem and I did not want to face anyone. After that, I started to use natural skin care and changed my lifestyle. My skin improved although it did take time. More surprisingly, my hormonal balance had improved too. From this time on, I really put trust in the power of natural and green beauty. I treasure this great gift from nature so much because it gave me back my life. This is one of the reasons I created OSCO.

You have chosen a beautiful blend of potent ingredients. Can you tell us more about the ingredients and the benefits of each one?
Prickly Pear Seed Oil is the most precious of any oil. It is high in antioxidants and anti-aging as it contains 2-3 times more Vitamin E than other oils (e.g. Argan Oil). It detoxifies and tightens skin as well as minimizes pore size. Prickly Pear Seed Oil and Watermelon Seed Oil contains high levels of Omega-6 with moderate levels of Omega-9 that will not clog your pores and lead to outbreaks but maintains and repairs skin barrier function while Sacha Inchi Seed Oil contains high levels of Omega-3 that helps regulate oils production and lock hydration in the skin. Besides, the phytosterol, ferulic acid, and phenylalanine in these oils encourage the production of collagen, suppress melanin production and help even skin tone, and reduce scarring.
Pomegranate Seed Oil contains a unique essential fatty acid Omega-5 (Punicic acid) which is a powerful antioxidant that can destroy harmful free radicals and prevent aging. I selected lavender, mandarin, and rose geranium essential oils as they work in synergy and give high performance to the serum which focuses on anti-pollution. The mixed scent of floral, green, and citrus is soothing and wonderful ensuring that people feel relaxed after facing a polluted day. Another reason I selected these three essential oils is they are not photo-sensitive, so we can use them day and night.
