What inspired you to start Step-In Beauty and why are you so passionate about beauty?
It was always my childhood dream to be a beautician. Even before my marriage, I ran my own salon.
For women beauty is crucial and has the ability to empower anyone. It is interesting because many times, a women will choose not to spend on beauty treatments due to financial reasons. What they don’t realize is that a few years down the line, they will be paying that money to doctors. For example, facials not only are a way to make you look younger and fresher, but they also help with blood circulation and resurfacing the skin’s texture.
What services do you offer?
I offer all salon services except anything to do with the hair. Some of my services include: waxing, massages, facials, mani/pedis, etc. For example, I combine facials with mind therapy. As my client has a face pack on, I turn on the mind therapy machine that enables clients to relax as the rays control the mind’s thoughts. In this way the client receives double therapy with the face and the body. I truly believe that beauty should be a way of relaxing.
Where did you do your training?
I did my training in Mumbai where I did a one and a half year course.
How do you market your salon services to Japanese customers?
A lot of my marketing comes from word-of mouth, and I have placed a couple advertisements in magazines. I have learned that for local Japanese, it is not important whether they receive their beauty treatments from a beauty parlor or from an at-home salon. For them, they prioritize the overall experience such as cleanliness, and punctuality, which I provide.
