Boston Voyger – Media Coverage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Parina Daswaney.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Parina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As cliché as it sounds, my passion for the beauty industry started when I was very young. As a kid in middle school, I would spend hours everyday on YouTube watching different beauty gurus and drive my parents insane browsing through countless makeup stores. What fascinated me the most about the beauty industry was how it was constantly changing and evolving. There was always something new to learn, be it a new formulation, a new brand, or a cool way to market the products.

Although I loved the industry itself, I decided to major in business in college. However, at the back of my mind, I always knew I wanted to spin this passion of beauty into something more. From a little advice from a few of my mentors, I decided to combine my love for beauty and business to start my own blog: Beauty Boss.

I launched the blog in August 2017, and it has been an amazing experience ever since. Beauty Boss has given me a chance to meet and talk to inspirational beauty entrepreneurs and hear all about their stories and how they started their businesses. I love every moment I spend working on my blog, and my hope is that it continues growing.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

It certainly has not been a smooth road!

The first challenge was actually setting up the blog and making sure that it was convenient to browse through while looking visually aesthetic. During the process, I had to teach myself a bit of CSS code and just play around with different technical features.

Another great challenge was actually getting the word out there about my blog. I needed to ensure that I was using various social media platforms to market the blog so that I could increase my subscriber base.

One of the biggest challenges was balancing college life and my blog. Ever since I started Beauty Boss, my goal has always been to be consistent with my weekly post uploads. Little did I know, how tough this was especially as a full time college student. I eventually realized I needed to physically schedule in a bit of time each week to completely devote to Beauty Boss.

Beauty Boss – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Beauty Boss is a collective of beauty entrepreneurs, a platform to share stories and experiences, and a collaborative center that brings these “bosses” together. Taking after the name, Beauty Boss, I created this platform to be a space where anyone interested in the beauty industry can come and find inspiration, through browsing our archive of our Beauty Bosses. The blog features beauty entrepreneurs from around the world through mini interviews about their passions, businesses, talents, and goals. As these beauty bosses’ change the world one lipstick at a time, we hope to highlight their stories and bridge the gap between the lovers of the beauty industry and entrepreneurs within the field. My hope is that Beauty Boss will grow into a platform where beauty lovers can come to learn something new, find inspiration, discover beauty entrepreneurs and their successful ventures and brands.
