Courtney Dailey Croll: Wondergloss

As a beauty campaign manager, Courtney Dailey Croll, has photographed some of the world’s most prominent beauty brands. Five years ago she decided to spruce things up and start her own fun and luxurious beauty line : Wondergloss. Read on to find out about Courtney’s journey and her brand:

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and why you started Wondergloss?

My name is Courtney Dailey Croll, and I am the founder of Wondergloss Beauty. For the past 15 years, I have been a beauty campaign photographer, shooting some of the world’s most popular and leading brands. It’s been exciting watching the constantly changing trends and also watching the uprising of Indie beauty. My job often is helping a brand establish brand identity through visuals. Over the last five years or so, I felt like the beauty industry was getting rather serious about Skincare, where as I feel your ritual should be enjoyable, and dare I say it, fun! I wanted to design a line that felt both luxurious but obtainable. I never want anyone to feel any guilt about purchasing my line, nor do I want to guilt anyone into thinking they are not doing enough for themselves. If you decide to treat yourself with a pretty bottle of our Face Aperitif, that’s awesome.

Who is your target customer?

My target customer, is a woman who appreciates pretty things, and who wants Little moments in time where she does something for herself. My target demographic initially was 28 to 45, but I find many of my customers are generation Z, Because our makeup remover, Makeup Assassin, takes it allllllll off. Either way, I priced the line, not like a luxury skincare line, but you get a luxury product. Score!

Can you speak a bit about the thought process behind the packaging and ingredients?

For me, I wanted both my packaging and product to be beautiful inside and outside. I selected lux finishings for our bottles and tubes so that when you curate your bathroom when your friends come over, you want to leave it out. We recently launched a light shimmering body oil called Boho Potion, Which features a luxurious fragrance and has pretty quartz wands in the bottle. Most of our products are tinted with a pretty color or texture like that, so The user experience is more interactive. It bums me out as a photographer with a line sends me five different white cream products. Snooze. I am deeply concerned about greenwashing and clean washing, however, I do try to stay “clean”. I opt-in for organic oils and natural fragrances. I am a firm believer that preservatives are necessary for skin care. It would totally disappoint me if I bought a product that spoiled after one or two uses. I think about that while creating products.

How are you looking to expand your product selection?

We have some really fun products coming up down the line for 2020. I am a bath-obsessed person, so we have a few bath and body products that are unique and quite fun. We are also launching a lip balm line, that taste like all the things I love, With a bit of Stevia to sweeten the experience.
