Ilinca Sipos: RARA CLUB

Beauty Boss, Ilinca Sipos felt as a consumer there was a gap in how brands communicate with consumers and that there was an opportunity for a mission-based company to come in to genuinely and consistently lead with their mission. As someone who has always been passionate about beauty, she decided to start her own brand RARA CLUB. Read on more to find out about her journey:

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and why you started RARA CLUB?

I’ve always wanted to create something that inspires people, and that’s a goal that’s been in the back of my mind for years. Personally, I am in love with all things self-care, self-development, skincare, wellness, and beauty. I have worked in eCommerce, so I figured I could marry my passions with my skillsets to start something amazing.

Months ago, I felt as a consumer there was a gap in how brands communicate with consumers, and that there was an opportunity for a mission-based company to come in to genuinely and consistently lead with their mission. Our mission is to inspire people and spread positivity through our products and content—so far I believe we’ve done a great job at that! I brought the spirit of self-improvement into the company, so we’re always looking for ways to continuously improve and keep open communication with our customers so their feedback helps us build the brand.

From a product perspective, I wanted a product that could stand alone, embody the brand, and become a staple in someone’s beauty routine (I had yet to find a lash/brow serum I loved). Through research and testing, ‘YOU GROW GIRL’ CBD Lash and Brow Boost became the clear option to launch with.

You recently released your flagship product. Can you tell us a bit more about it, and what differentiates it from other products?

Our flagship product, ‘YOU GROW GIRL’ CBD Lash and Brow Boost is developed with a highly effective combination of ingredients, including CBD, to stimulate hair growth for longer, thicker lashes and fuller brows. The blend adds hydration and nutrients to the skin and hair while also opening up the pores to maximize absorption.

When our customers use our products, we aim to make them feel inspired and like they’re a part of something bigger, so the product name is rooted in an affirmation to remind our customers just how awesome she is!

You are a mission-first company. What is the variety of initiatives you have taken?

We’ve tried our hardest to make sure we’re creating scalable and sustainable change with our initiatives. Some highlights are:

    1. We donated ALL initial launch profits (April and May) to COVID19 aid charities Feeding America, Direct Relief, and Good360
  • We share minority-owned businesses with our community through our monthly newsletter with a focus on LGBTQ+ and Black-Owned businesses
    1. We publish content that calls for change and even asked our customers not to purchase our products and instead donate their money to charities in need
  • We focus on inclusivity and have even written out a set of “CLUB RULES” that we strive to live by

You recently launched an app as well. What is the purpose of the app and how has it helped grow the presence of your brand?

We launched at the end of March 2020 and as mentioned above, donated profits. It was really the only way we felt comfortable moving forward with the launch. However, we heard from our followers that they loved our mission and wanted to be involved with the brand, but due to being affected by COVID couldn’t buy products at the time.

Since we’re mission-led, I knew that we had to create something tangible, in addition to our blogs, newsletter, socials, etc. I personally love journaling and gratitude practices, so I wanted to create a simple gratitude journal (or as we like to say, ‘gRARAtitude’). I’m no coder but was able to develop a basic app for people to use and the feedback has been super positive. A lot of our customers message us features they’d like to see – which is super cool, and we’re focused on getting that all built out as fast as possible.

This has all helped us grow as a “beauty lifestyle” brand as it gives people an easy way to see what we’re all about.

What does a #beautyboss mean to you?

For me, being a #beautyboss means staying true to my beliefs, remaining authentic, yet pushing the boundaries and tirelessly working to make the world a little better each and every day. It means making decisions with our customers’ best interests in mind and not accepting the status quo. Being a #beautyboss is about making people feel their best both inside and out.
