Jessica Stevenson & Jayme Jenkins: Everist

Jessica Stevenson and Jayme Jenkins founded Everist by following the idea of a waterless and zero-waste mindset for a new and innovative shampoo. Keeping the effectiveness, they explored new ways to develop shampoo that is convenient and easy to use. Their goal is to help fix the plastic problem in the beauty industry while creating products that would make hair look amazing.

Let’s meet the founders!

Can you tell us a bit more about your products?

  • High Performance
  • Super Clean
  • Vegan
  • Cruelty-free
  • Zero-waste

At Everist, we create true innovation to develop beauty products that are uncompromising in their quality and also leave as little impact on the Earth as possible. We believe that big change happens when small changes become easy and better (in every way) than the status quo. Eco can be for everyone and we’re here to lead the way.

What does a beauty company without single-use plastic look like?

Waterless, Color-Safe, Vegan, Cruelty-Free, Plant-Based, & Preservative-free

High Performance:

If not, then nothing else matters. Our most important consideration is making sure your hair looks and feels amazing. Knowing our own high expectations, we ensure that our hydrating, color-safe formulas don’t disappoint. We use the highest-quality, safe, effective ingredients that deliver salon-worthy results.

Zero-Waste:

Biodegradable and single-use plastic-free. We know there is no perfect ‘zero-waste’, but we think we’re pretty close. Our products are thoughtfully designed, inside and out, as is the way we do business. Our concentrated formulas are smaller and lighter to ship, drastically reducing our carbon footprint. We avoid single-use plastic – using 99.7% pure aluminum for our tubes that is infinitely recyclable, and we take back our small plastic caps, to ensure they get a second life. All of our paper boxes and shipping materials are made with 100% recycled paper and are 100% recyclable and carbon neutral (you can compost them too, if you choose!) Any carbon we use, we offset with our partner Climate Neutral and we are a proud 1% for the Planet member.

Super Clean:

Waterless, vegan, and cruelty-free. By removing the water in our formulas, we bypass the need for chemical preservatives – a breakthrough innovation. Our shampoo and conditioner concentrates are also free of sulfates, silicones, phthalates, microplastics, and parabens. Instead, they are made with 100% plant-based (not petroleum-derived) ingredients, always vegan and cruelty-free. The result is hair that is gently cleansed but not stripped and feels light, soft, and healthy.

How does Everist achieve being Zero-Waste?

  • No single-use plastic
  • plant-based, biodegradable formulas
  • Infinitely recyclable aluminum packaging
  • Closed-loop CapBack Program
  • 100% recyclable and compostable cartons
  • Kraft cartons made from 100% recycled material
  • Compact formulas + local manufacturing = less carbon to ship
  • Incidental waste managed through TerraCycle
  • Climate Neutral net-zero carbon commitment
  • 1% for the Planet member

What are some ingredients that are included in your products?

Everist waterless shampoo and conditioner concentrate hydrate hair and scalp for weightless, soft, silky strands. Our patent-pending waterless formulas mean you only use the pure, active ingredients your hair needs.

pH Balance: the oils on our hair and scalp are naturally acidic (between 4.5-5.5) which prevents bacteria growth and leaves the hair cuticle closed and healthy. Many hair products disrupt our natural pH level leaving hair dry, brittle, and prone to dandruff. We believe that healthy hair is happy hair and design our products for optimal pH.

  • Vegetable Glycerin: Our first ingredient. An effective humectant to reduce frizz and strengthen hair
  • Aloe Vera: Packed with vitamin A, C, and E to condition hair and soothe the scalp
  • Coconut-Derived Cleansers: Gently cleanses the hair follicles and the scalp without stripping the natural oil barrier
  • Amla oil: Rich in essential vitamins and fatty acids to restore hydration and soften hair
  • Peppermint oil: Improves scalp health and circulation, helping to eliminate dandruff and stimulate hair growth
  • Rosemary oil: Nourishes dry hair follicles, improving both hair thickness and growth
