Julie Park: Knours

Julie Park started off as a beauty distributor for a top Korean brand. After her husband was diagnosed with cancer, she spent endless hours researching ways to help and her family.  Through her research, she found that her cosmetic and skincare products contained many harmful toxins. She launched her brand, Knours, in 2018 as a way to bring safe, simple, and clean beauty to all her customers today. Read on more to find out about Julie and Knours:

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and why you started Knours?

I started off as a distributor of Korean beauty brands. As my business was gaining popularity, I was starting to cope with emotional and physical changes as a result of entering menopause. In 2017 my husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer and my life became even more complicated. Anxious for answers, I started to research anything that might help alleviate the challenges my family was facing.  That’s when I became aware of how much we are exposed to toxins in everyday life. From food to personal care products, I found toxins were ever-present in our lives AND that they were responsible for triggering hormonal changes in our bodies.  That research was the driving force in my collaborations with dermatologists and herbalists to develop a safe and effective skincare line that is free of toxicity and does not trigger hormonal shifts.

Can you tell us a bit more about the ingredients you use?

At Knours we understand what you put on your skin matters and we are committed to using clean ingredients that are proven to be safe. We have passed rigorous safety tests and are EWG Verified guarantees that we are safe for everyone. The ingredients we use range from natural oil extracts to skincare staples such as niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, aloe Vera, etc.

What is the importance of using hormonal skincare?

Knours science is largely based on the impact the endocrine system has on women’s aging process. As we know this system produces and regulates hormones, but recent studies have shown it also impacts skin health. Our products were developed to help balance one’s skin throughout the inevitable hormonal stages from your teens, through pregnancy into menopause and everything in between.

You’re also in the process of creating a Knours app. Can you tell us a bit more about that?

The Knours app integrates user input information and data from medical research and studies. The app learns the user’s cycle and hormonal changes and curates a custom-tailored experience including Knours skin care regimen.
