Mary Schenkel and Suzanne Zelov: Sweet and Kind

After using CBD for pain management, Mary and Suzanna realized that CBD has various other benefits. They set out on a mission from friends to business partners to create products with CBD that helped protect the skin from all the unkindness in the world. Read on to find out more about the journey of these two best friends:

Why did you decide to start Sweet and Kind?

We both had both been using CBD for pain management and began to notice a side benefit of how great it made our skin look. The anti-inflammatory properties of CBD really do eliminate redness and calm the skin. And the Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids give you a glow, as well as protect your skin from free radicals that cause future damage. It’s a win-win for people who love to care for their skin. And then we wanted to put it with other anti-aging actives to make it the best product out there. So we worked with some amazing chemists and did just that. And so far people are loving it!  We also created a brand name and ethos around self-kindness and how that can beneficially affect those around us. It’s been an amazing journey for us as businesswomen, and long-time friends. We are loving it!

CBD and Beauty are a huge growing trend. How do you differentiate your products from other brands?

Most of what’s out there now is very much a part of the clean beauty movement, which we love. Transparency in ingredients is a good thing for consumers. But some of those products lack efficacy. And the shelf life is short, so you could find yourself with products that contaminate quickly. We wanted to put a product out there that combines the best of nature with the advanced science in skin care today. And one that does what it sets out to do. That required natural and pharmaceutical-grade ingredients that allow all of the actives to co-exist peacefully together. Peptides to help build collagen, Vitamin A to help regenerate cells, CoQ10 as another excellent anti-oxidant, and soothing botanicals like Green Tea, Avocado, and Cucumber all give CBD some excellent co-conspirators in the fight against common skin issues.

How do you educate your customers on the effectiveness and the importance of CBD?

We’ve started a subscriber newsletter that we send several times a month to encourage people to learn, ask questions, and become more involved with the wellness that hemp offers. As more research is done, we will be adding even more information on our website, where we are creating a section just for up-to-date CBD education and important info. It’s an ongoing process and it’s exciting to share what we learn!

Any future initiatives we can look forward to?

We see ourselves diving deeper into issue specific body care and skincare. We want to delve into niches like acne, eczema, more anti-aging products, bath products, and internal wellness products. Our mission is to remind everyone to show themselves the kindness they deserve, and then share that kindness with the world around them. And we will be tuned in to our existing and potential customers to see what they want. We don’t want to do this in a vacuum. We want to hear from everyone about what they’d like to see in CBD wellness and skincare.

We love how these best friends have go out to start their venture. Don’t forget to check out their products here: https://sweetandkindco.com
